Finally, Lexus Ireland have confirmed a price for their LF-A supercar. The LF-A will cost you an astonishing €580,000 and requires a €25,000 deposit. Yes, €580,000 is an awful lot of money to pay for a Lexus (38 Toyota Yaris’ to you and me), but when you look at the LF-A’s performance credentials you’ll soon understand why it comes with such a hefty price tag.
The LF-A has a specially built 4.8L V10 engine with 560bhp and max rpm of 9,000. It offers incredible performance that will take you from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and all the way to 325km/h.This is partly to do with the Automatic Sequential Gearbox which changes gear in an amazing 200 milliseconds. The LF-A is built with carbon fiber reinforced plastic which makes the body of the car 100kg lighter than an aluminum body. This added to the light weight engine, racing suspension and aerodynamic design suggests that it should drive and handle as well as it looks. The soundtrack from the LF-A’s triple exhausts is amazing and is inspired by a Formula 1 car at high revs, which will be different to any other car on the road. Production of the LF-A begins in December 2010. 20 will be hand built each month and a limit of 500 will be sold worldwide. Lexus have also confirmed that the LF-A will be available in right and left hand drive. Lexus claim the hand built cabin trim reflects premium supercar character which is good considering the car costs €580k!
